Dt Madhu Sharma RD (President of the Indian Dietetic Association, Chandigarh) is an established registered Dietitian, with a rich experience of more than 3 decades of service at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. Is now retired and involved with various city Hospitals and Clinicians, offering her valuable services. Also runs an independent set up by the name of Diet for Life. As the name implies, is keen to provide services which are practical and sustainable for life, thereby making ‘quality, not quantity’ the motto of her work.

She is qualified with a diploma in Dietetics and also holds a post graduate degree (M.Sc.) in Foods and Nutrition from renowned Institutes at Hyderabad and Delhi.

Her main areas of interest are obesitychild nutrition and various nutritional aspects associated with it and gastric and liver disorders, besides awareness on Lifestyle Diseases, which comprise commonly prevalent problems of diabetes both in adults and children, cardiac and hypertension in the population.

Nutritional awareness programmes by way of education also form a part of her activities.

She has to her credit published 3 books on Paediatric Nutrition which deal with varied aspects of nutrition in health and disease in children, besides various papers in related academic journals.

She is a life member of various Nutrition Societies like the Indian Dietetic Association, Nutrition Society of India, World Congress of Nutrition and the Indian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

  • Involved in the training programs of IDA (Indian Dietetic Association) in the Pediatric teaching module.
  • Involved in counseling sessions of ante natal mothers in a city based nursing home.
  • Involved in nutrition education sessions of various corporate employees from time to time.
  • Contributes articles for various newspapers and journals.
  • Involved in academics activities on invitation from various educational institutions.
  • Currently also working in nutritional rehabilitation of children suffering from cancer in PGI Chandigarh (NGO based project)
