Former Senior Dietitian from PGIMER, Chandigarh, retired in 2012.
Past Convener, (Indian Dietetic Association) IDA, Chandigarh Chapter.
Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Sadhna RND Award for excellence in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics on 10th Jan 2022.
Received the Award of Excellence in Nutritional Science on 26th Jan 2025 at NUTRIBOLISM Conf, Mumbai.
Is a member of the National Executive Committee of IDA.
Past Vice President of IAPEN and past Joint Secretary of ISPEN.

Has been associated for almost three decades with Pediatric Nutrition at PGI, serving in The Gastroenterology Department (20 years) and then the Advanced Pediatric Center (10 years) at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Was trained in nutritional management of children with cystic fibrosis from Scotland.
Recently certified in Dietary Management of IBS from Monash University, Australia.
Certified in Foundation of Functional Medicine/Nutrition.
Has authored three books on Pediatric Nutrition.

Presently, set up own consultancy, Diet for Life at Panchkula, and is a visiting consultant at various city clinics/nursing homes.
Is a member of the Review Board of JIDA – Journal of Indian Dietetic Association.

Life member of – Indian Dietetic Association, Nutrition Society of India, ISPEN, IAPEN, World Congress of Nutrition, IAP Pediatric Nutrition Sub-Specialty, and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation India.

Contributor to health columns of local newspapers from time to time and actively engages in nutrition education and awareness programs at various locations. In addition, has been involved in ghostwriting, assisting in the creation of impactful and scientifically accurate academic works related to health and nutrition, ensuring the dissemination of reliable and beneficial information.

Regularly delivers lectures in various workshops, CNEs, and conferences.

Currently practicing Functional Integrated Nutrition, which focuses on treating the root cause of disorders rather than relying on a quick-fix approach to relieve symptoms. The goal is to address early dysfunctions within the body before they develop into full-blown diseases.

Conditions such as obesity, thyroid malfunction, allergies, gut disorders, and autoimmunity are viewed as symptoms of deeper imbalances. Functional nutrition aims to identify and manage these underlying causes, promoting long-term healing. A key area of focus is gut health and maintaining optimal microflora, which plays a crucial role in overall well-being.

Madhu Sharma RD (Past convener of the Indian Dietetic Association, (IDA)Chandigarh Chapter) is an established registered Dietitian, with a rich experience of more than 32 years of service at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. She is now retired and involved with various city Hospitals and Clinicians, offering her valuable services. She also Founder of her own independent Clinic since 10 years and counting, bu name Diet For Life Clinic in Panchkula. She is keen to provide services which are practical and sustainable for life, thereby making ‘quality not quantity’ the motto of her work.

She is qualified with a diploma in Dietetics who holds a post graduate degree (M.Sc.) in Foods and Nutrition from renowned Institutes at Hyderabad and Delhi.

Her main areas of interest are obesity, child nutrition and various nutritional aspects associated with it and gastric and liver disorders.

Besides theses she also deals with Lifestyle Diseases, which comprise commonly prevalent problems of diabetes both in adults and children and cardiac and hypertension in the population.

Driven by One Purpose

Nutritional awareness programmes by way of education also form a part of her activities. She has to her credit published 3 books on Paediatric Nutrition which deal with varied aspects of nutrition in health and disease in children, besides various papers in related academic journals. She is a life member of various Nutrition Societies like the Indian Dietetic Association, Nutrition Society of India, World Congress of Nutrition , Indian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of India and also a member of sub speciality of nutrition of India academy of paediatrics. She is currently a member of national executive committee of IDA. Apart from these, she is also involved in nutrition education sessions of various corporate employees from time to time, She contributes articles for various newspapers and journals, and is also involved in academic activities on invitation from various academics institutions and organizations. She was earlier involved with nutritional rehabilitation of children suffering from cancer in PGI Chandigarh in collaboration with an NGO based project.
